Jim Smith came to The Lake of the Woods Church in August of 2006. He says, "The two greatest ministry passions for me are helping church members organize themselves to express a life-practical faith in a relevant way in their community, and assisting believers to grow in their faith in Jesus Christ." His academic credentials include a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (1987) and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing/Retail Management from Ferris State University (1981). Before coming to LOWC, he served as the Pastor of Westbrook First Baptist Church in Westbrook, Maine. He also served as the pastor of Faith Community Baptist Church in Loudon, New Hampshire and Ledyard-Gales Ferry Baptist Church in Gales Ferry, Connecticut. His total service in these three churches is 15 years. He also served as the Executive Director of the Care Net Pregnancy Resource Centers in the Manassas, Virginia area. Jim's wife, Lisa, has been an
active supporter of his ministry. She enjoys singing and shares her
talent as a vocalist. Her gift of
creative
communication
is also expressed through her use of drama. She has helped plan
programs that utilize drama within the worship service. Pastor Smith
